Claudine Henry

Thank You!

Family· Holidays

30 Dec

I hope you had a great Christmas…we did.

It was abundant and fun and very healing.  I told my husband that I thought it was the most memorable Christmas we’ve had since before my mom became so ill and passed away.

However, I did have to deal with some yucky stuff…namely the Type A flu.  It decided to visit me early in the week, knocking out my participation in our annual-light-looking-night.

Never fear…while Larry stayed home with me, we sent the kids on without us. They surprised us by bringing home videos of their excursion so we could see the lights from the living room and wouldn’t miss out on the tour.

Their video took us through Automobile Alley, Nichols Hills and Chesapeake (all OKC “light tour” favorites).  They finished it off by spontaneously personalizing a few words to the song “All I want for Christmas is You.” (It was playing on the car radio.) Changing it to “All I DON’T want for Christmas is THE FLU.”

Made us laugh.

A really blurry photo – but delightful to me. Logan dug out his childhood bandana collection to use as masks so they wouldn’t breathe my air.

Talking them through the how-tos of Mom's egg noodle recipe. I wasn't allowed to touch anything. It's hard to explain a recipe without using your hands!

I wrapped all their gifts in blue Justin Bieber paper. (Because I'm silly like that.)

Our annual TGI Fridays Christmas Lunch. (There is a story that goes with this tradition.) I had been declared flu-free.

Thankfully my flu was short-lived and no one else caught it.  But the measures we took for me to not infect anyone else will be laughed about for a long time.

Today I’m buying groceries, finishing a few Chaplain calls, packing up the last two boxes of Christmas ornaments, and getting ready to hunker-down and celebrate the new year.

Life is almost back to routine.

Before it gets there, I wanted stop and say thank you…

Thank you for reading my blog.

Thank you for sharing it with your friends.

And thank you for all your comments, messages and emails.

I’m still learning this blogging thing, but your support and willingness to get to know me has made this extra fun. I appreciate you more than you know.

Have a wonderful New Year and consider yourself hugged!
